Inspiration Elopement in Isola d’Elba Tuscany
Where the sun meets the sea: Isola d’Elba (Tuscany) is perfect for your Italian Elopement!
Isola d’Elba is one of our favorite islands around Italy. Even though it is not very famous abroad, it is actually a dream coming true!
Having an Elopement in Isola d’Elba Tuscany can be a perfect idea. First, it’s in Tuscany (so great food and wine ahead!). Second, the nature of the island and the sea surrounding it are simply majestic, and it’s the perfect option if you and your future spouse are into snorkeling and/or love hiking and exploring. Third, it’s filled with tiny, adorable towns!
Get ready to fall in love and start imagining your Elopement in Isola d’Elba.
I. The Geographical Area
Isola d’Elba is a small(ish) island in the Tuscan Archipelago under the province of Livorno. Despite not being particularly large (224 square kilometers – 86 square miles), the island offers a large variety of environments: despite the spectacular seaside, having both sand and rocky beaches, in Elba you can find eight municipalities (you will fall in love with those tiny Borghi!), several hiking tracks, historical villas (including the one that belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte) and archeological sites.
II. The Mood
Isola d’Elba has a natural wild growth of Pampas Grass, so of course, it has to be added to the wedding mood-board! When we work with our local flower designers, we love to create peculiar arches for the wedding ceremony. This triangular-shaped one has a strong boho vibe and it would be perfect for an Elopement in Isola d’Elba. Considering the style of the island, having a boho-beach theme is particularly suitable and would look absolutely amazing.
III. The Ceremony Location
With beaches like this, where else would you get married? One of our favorite locations for a micro wedding or Elopement in Isola d’Elba Tuscany is the beach and restaurant called Le Viste in Portoferraio, in the North of the Island. This amazing and award-winning restaurant is built like a stilt house on top of the sea and has a small private beach attached. The venue is amazing by the daylight, but it really offers all its charm as the sun is setting: you would get the most spectacular purple sunset reflecting on the sea, and we promise, it’s a view to live for!
This restaurant specifically offers all the Tuscan specialties with a seaside twist. Fresh fish from the sea, amazing wine, and local sweets – just amazing!
III. Elopement Day and Honeymoon Activities
Snorkeling in Isola d’Elba
If you are into snorkeling and/or scuba diving, you would not want to miss the sunken boat Elviscot in Isola d’Elba. Located on the beach of Pomonte in the Southern area of the Island, you would be able to swim among the vast quantity of fishes and explore incredible sealife. You can explore it even if you don’t use scuba equipment and it’s a must-do experience if you love the kind!
Wine Tasting: Aleatico Sweet Wine
The sweet wine called Aleatico is only produced in Isola d’Elba. Around the island, you would find many farms where you can have a wine tasting of this sweet, spectacular wine. Our favorite one is Sapereta in Capoliveri: it’s a must-taste and a perfect gift if you are planning to have some guests joining your elopement adventure!
Enjoying the slow-paced life of the Island
Whether you like hiking, laying in the sun, swimming in the sea, having great food and wine tastings, shopping in small local businesses, exploring medieval towns, or having fun at a beach club… Isola d’Elba is the perfect setting for your Italian Elopement and honeymoon. The island can be pretty hectic in the months of July and August, but the weather is perfect from early May to late October. Planning your elopement here will definitely steal your heart – we promise!
Isola d’Elba is one of our favorite settings for Elopements in Italy. You can reach the island by arriving at the airports of Florence or Rome, rent a car and reach the island by boat (there are dozens of boats going back and forth from Elba to Livorno or Piombino). Isola d’Elba is definitely not a famous spot for destination weddings and elopements in Italy, but it should: all the beauty of more famous islands (like Capri) with a more exclusive and secluded vibe.
